Equalizer Music Player Offline - Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 26, 2026
Last updated: October 27, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Step Technovision ("we", "us", "our") handles information in the Android music player app that Step Technovision publishes on Google Play with the package name com.musicplayer.audio.mp3player.songs, including its home-screen widget and Premium subscription (together, the "App").
The App is currently listed on Google Play as Equalizer Music Player Offline and was previously listed as MP3 Audio Player & Bass Boost. The App may appear under a different name in other languages or in the future. This Privacy Policy applies to the App under any name it is listed under.
By installing or using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App and uninstall it.
1. WHO WE ARE
The App is developed and published by Step Technovision, an independent app developer based in India. You can contact us at steptechnovision@gmail.com.
2. SUMMARY
- No account and no sign-up. We never ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos or precise location.
- Your music stays on your phone. The App reads audio files on your device only to play them. It never uploads your music, playlists or listening history to us.
- We do not run our own servers for the App and we do not sell your personal information for money.
- The App uses services from Google (AdMob, Firebase, Google Play) and OneSignal for ads, purchases, analytics, crash reports and notifications. These services collect some device and usage information, as described in Section 5.
3. INFORMATION THAT STAYS ON YOUR DEVICE
The App processes the following information only on your device. It is not sent to us and we cannot see it:
- Audio files on your device and their details: title, artist, album, genre, duration, file name, folder location and embedded artwork, read from your device's media library.
- Your playlists, favourites, recently played, recently added and most played lists, play counts, and the current queue and playback position.
- Your settings, such as theme, language, equalizer, bass boost and other sound settings, sleep timer, hidden folders and minimum song length.
- Song details you change in the App (title, artist and artwork image). These changes are saved inside the App only. They do not change your audio files.
- Artwork images the App creates and stores to show your songs.
This information is kept in the App's private storage on your device. It is deleted when you clear the App's data or uninstall the App. We do not have a copy, so we cannot recover or restore it.
Backups. If you use the backup feature, the App writes a backup file to a location you choose. When you import a backup, the App reads the file you select. Backup files stay where you save them. We never receive them, and you are responsible for keeping them safe.
Files opened from other apps. When you open or share an audio file with the App from another app (for example a file manager or a messaging app), the App reads that file only to play it. We do not upload or keep it.
Sharing songs. When you use the Share option, the App passes the selected song file to the app you choose. What happens to it after that is governed by that app's own terms and privacy policy.
4. PERMISSIONS THE APP USES
- Music and audio (READ_MEDIA_AUDIO; storage access on Android 12 and older): to find and play the audio files on your device.
- Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): to show playback controls while music plays and, if you allow it, occasional notifications about the App.
- Foreground service for media playback and wake lock: to keep music playing when the screen is off or you are using another app.
- Modify audio settings: for the equalizer, bass boost, virtualizer and loudness effects.
- Internet and network state: to load ads, process and restore purchases, check for App updates, and send analytics and crash reports.
- Advertising ID (AD_ID): used by Google AdMob for advertising, as described in Sections 5 and 8.
- Technical permissions added by the services in Section 5: vibration and app-icon badge counts for notifications, receiving push messages, Google Play billing, the Google Play install referrer (how the App was installed), and Android's ad services (Privacy Sandbox ad topics and attribution measurement). None of them gives access to your files, contacts, photos, location, phone or messages.
The App does not request access to your location, contacts, camera, microphone, phone, call logs, SMS or the list of apps installed on your device.
You can deny or revoke permissions at any time in your device's Settings. Some features will not work without them. For example, the App cannot show your music without the music and audio permission.
5. INFORMATION COLLECTED BY THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
The App includes software from the third parties listed below. These services collect information directly from your device and process it under their own privacy policies. The information they collect does not include your name, email address or the contents of your music files.
- Google AdMob (advertising): advertising ID, App Set ID, IP address and the approximate location derived from it, device and app information, ad interactions (such as ad views and taps) and diagnostic information. On supported Android versions, AdMob may also use Android's Privacy Sandbox, which provides coarse ad topics and ad attribution calculated on your device. It is used to show ads, measure and limit them, and prevent fraud. Where the law requires consent (for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland), the App asks for your choice through Google's consent message before personalised ads are shown.
- Google Firebase Analytics: an app instance identifier, usage events (for example app opens, screens viewed, session length, whether the Premium screen was opened, purchase events, ads shown and whether a file was opened from another app), device model, Android version, language, country or region, App version, and how the App was installed (the Google Play install referrer). It is used to understand how the App is used and to improve it. These events do not include your song titles, file names or music.
- Google Firebase Crashlytics: crash reports, including the technical details of the error, device model, Android version, App version, the device's state at the time of the crash (such as free memory) and a Crashlytics installation identifier. It is used to find and fix crashes.
- Google Firebase Remote Config: installation identifiers, App version and country. It is used to adjust App settings (such as how often ads appear) without an update.
- OneSignal and Firebase Cloud Messaging (notifications): a push token, a OneSignal subscription identifier, device model, Android version, language, time zone, country (from your IP address), App version, session information, in-app purchase events, and whether notifications and in-app messages were delivered, shown or opened. It is used to send notifications and in-app messages. Device location is never shared with OneSignal.
- Google Play Billing (Premium purchases): Google Play processes all payments. We never see your card, bank or UPI details. The App receives purchase information from Google Play (the product, a purchase token, an order ID and the purchase status) so it can unlock and restore Premium.
- Google Play services: App updates and review prompts are shown by Google Play. If you write a review, Google Play publishes it under Google's policies.
- Web pages: this Privacy Policy and our Terms open inside the App from Google's Blogger service, which may use cookies under Google's privacy policy.
- Connection check: while the App is open, it checks whether you are online by briefly contacting Google's connectivity-check servers (gstatic.com). No information is sent other than what any internet connection reveals, such as your IP address.

6. HOW WE USE INFORMATION
- To provide the App's features, such as playing music, playlists and sound effects (on your device).
- To show ads that keep the App free.
- To process, verify and restore Premium purchases.
- To find and fix crashes, measure performance and improve the App.
- To send notifications you have allowed.
- To prevent fraud and misuse, comply with the law and enforce our Terms and Conditions.
We do not use your information to make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
7. LEGAL BASES (EEA, UK AND SWITZERLAND)
Where these laws apply, we rely on: your consent (for personalised ads and notifications); our legitimate interests in keeping the App working, secure and free (analytics, crash reports, non-personalised ads and fraud prevention); performance of a contract (providing Premium you bought); and legal obligations. You can withdraw consent at any time, as explained in Section 8. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that happened before.
8. ADVERTISING AND YOUR CHOICES
- Ad consent: where required, the App shows Google's consent message. You can change your choice later in the App under Settings → Privacy options (shown when it applies in your region).
- Advertising ID: you can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in your device settings (for example Settings → Privacy → Ads, or Settings → Google → Ads).
- Premium removes ads from the App.
- United States: some state laws treat sharing data with advertising partners for personalised ads as a "sale" or "sharing". You can opt out through Settings → Privacy options where shown, or by deleting your advertising ID.
9. DATA SHARING
We share information only:
- with the service providers listed in Section 5, for the purposes described there;
- if required by law, court order or a government request;
- to protect the rights, property or safety of users, us or others, and to prevent fraud;
- as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of the App or its assets, in which case this Privacy Policy will continue to apply to the transferred information.
We do not sell your personal information for money.
10. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
The App is not directed at children under 13, or under the minimum age set by the law of your country (for example 16 in some countries of the European Union). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
11. YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS
Depending on where you live (for example under the EU and UK GDPR, India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, the California Consumer Privacy Act and other US state laws, or Brazil's LGPD), you may have the right to:
- access the personal data held about you, and correct or delete it;
- object to or restrict certain processing, and receive your data in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time;
- nominate another person to exercise your rights (India);
- receive a response to a grievance, and complain to your data protection authority.
Because the App has no accounts and we do not hold your name or contact details, we usually cannot link data to you. We will still help as far as we can. You can use the in-app Privacy options, your device's settings for permissions, notifications and the advertising ID, or email us. We will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.
12. DATA DELETION
- Data on your device: clear the App's storage in your device settings, or uninstall the App.
- Data held by our service providers: email steptechnovision@gmail.com with the subject "Data deletion – Music Player". We will ask our providers to delete data linked to your installation, where it can be identified, within 30 days. We may ask for details that help identify your installation. We will never ask for passwords or payment details.
- Advertising ID: reset or delete it in your device settings.
- Purchase records are kept by Google Play under Google's own policies. We cannot delete Google's records.
13. DATA RETENTION
- Information on your device is kept until you delete it, clear the App's storage or uninstall the App.
- Crash reports are kept by Firebase Crashlytics for up to 90 days.
- Analytics data is kept according to the retention setting of our Firebase Analytics account, and no longer than 14 months.
- Data collected by AdMob, OneSignal and Google Play is kept according to their own policies.
- Emails you send us are kept as long as needed to answer you and keep a record of the request.
14. DATA SECURITY
The third-party services we use send information over encrypted connections. Information stored by the App is kept in its private storage, which Android protects from other apps. However, no method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for unauthorised access caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as a lost, rooted or compromised device, malware, or a failure of a third-party service.
15. YOUR FILES AND BACKUPS
We do not keep copies of your music, playlists, settings or backups. Data lost because you uninstall the App, clear its storage, reset or change your device, update the operating system, or because files are deleted or damaged by you, by other apps or by a storage failure cannot be recovered by us. Please keep your own backups. Our liability is limited as set out in our Terms and Conditions.
16. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS
Our service providers may process information in the United States, India and other countries whose data protection laws may differ from those in your country. Where required, these providers use legal safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
17. THIRD-PARTY LINKS AND ADS
The App may contain ads and links to third-party websites, apps and services, including Google Play. We do not control and are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. Please read their privacy policies.
18. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and change the "Last updated" date. If a change is significant, we may also tell you in the App or on its Google Play page. If you continue to use the App after an update, you accept the updated Privacy Policy.
